We’ve all been there... Right?

A birthday is coming up. A friend has just moved into a new home. Someone deserves a little "Thank you." A colleague has gone the extra mile. Or it's time to find Christmas gifts for your team. Maybe you simply want to brighten somebody's day.

So you start searching for a gift. And before long, you come across the same kinds of hampers over and over again.

A bottle of wine.
A bar of chocolate.
Some crackers.
Maybe a jar of mustard.

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with any of those. But they made me ask myself one simple question.

What Makes a Gift Thoughtful?

For me, it has never been about how much you spend. It’s about the story behind it. Every thoughtful gift tells a story. That story doesn’t begin when someone unties the ribbon.

It begins long before that. For me, it starts in my kitchen.

Every jar of jam is cooked in small batches. Every cookie is baked by hand. Every chutney is stirred, tasted, and bottled with care. I choose the ingredients. I design the labels. I wrap every order myself.

Long before a gift reaches someone’s home, there’s already a person behind it who has poured time, care, and a little piece of themselves into creating it.

And I think that’s something worth holding on to in a world where almost everything can be ordered with the click of a button.
